Eliminating the barriers to traditional transactions

Paga is working to solve two major financial issues: reducing reliance on cash and making it easier to send and receive money. By offering low-cost transactions through its mobile app and agent network, Paga democratizes financial services in underdeveloped markets, bringing basic financing to the masses. Their Platform-as-a-Service approach also enables other third parties to leverage their infrastructure, contributing to a growing ecosystem of seamless financial services.

Why Goodwell invested

Paga addresses a critical gap in Nigeria’s financial ecosystem by providing mobile-based financial services to small businesses and millions of un(der)banked individuals. Paga’s platform fosters financial inclusion by simplifying the most essential financial services like money transfers and bill payments. Its agent network and partnerships with local merchants further enhance its scalability and contribution to better livelihoods, positioning it as a leader in Africa’s fintech ecosystem.

Recent achievements and future ambitions

In 2025, Paga marked an impressive achievement, with a single year’s activity matching the company’s entire pre-2025 lifetime: the company processed approximately 124 million transactions with a total value of EUR 7.2 billion. Their active user base also grew, and the agent network expanded across all Nigeria to meet growing demand. Finally, Paga took their ambitions for financial inclusion overseas: in September 2025, Paga announced their expansion into the US market, offering digital banking to the African diaspora.

Making money easy to access and use

“How do we deliver financial services to the mass market? The way we do it is by enabling an ecosystem that helps people send and receive money digitally and access financial services. It’snot just about the Paga platform. It’s about solving problems for everyone in that ecosystem and making it simple for people to access and use their money wherever it exists.”
