Eliminating the barriers to traditional transactions

Paga is working to solve two major financial issues: reducing reliance on cash and making it easier to send and receive money. By offering low-cost transactions through its mobile app and agent network, Paga democratizes financial services in underdeveloped markets, bringing basic financing to the masses. Their Platform-as-a-Service approach also enables other third parties to leverage their infrastructure, contributing to a growing ecosystem of seamless financial services.

Why Goodwell invested

Paga addresses a critical gap in Nigeria’s financial ecosystem by providing mobile-based financial services to small businesses and millions of un(der)banked individuals. Paga’s platform fosters financial inclusion by simplifying the most essential financial services like money transfers and bill payments. Its agent network and partnerships with local merchants further enhance its scalability and contribution to better livelihoods, positioning it as a leader in Africa’s fintech ecosystem.

Recent achievements and future ambitions

In 2024, Paga surpassed NGN 8 trillion in transactions within a single calendar year. Their impact on the financial inclusion space continues to grow, with transaction volumes now 12 times higher per month than in June 2021. This surge reflects the increasing trust in Paga’s platform to power seamless, secure, and accessible financial transactions at scale. The company’s most recent milestone in 2025 was the launch of the Doroki, a cloud-based software designed to help SMEs manage their business operations and accelerate growth.

How do we deliver financial services to the mass market? The way we do it is by enabling an ecosystem that helps people send and receive money digitally and access financial services. It’s not just about the Paga platform. It’s about solving problems for everyone in that ecosystem and making it simple for people to access and use their money wherever it exists.”
