Informal retailers are the backbone of Africa’s commerce, but fragmented supply chains, cashflow issues and economic instability make it hard to maintain adequate inventory. OmniRetail is addressing these challenges with essential digital infrastructure that connects small business to reliable suppliers, enables them to order exactly what they need, and gives them the ability to obtain goods on credit.

OmniRetail is expanding financial inclusion for a very specific audience: small retailers. 78% of OmniRetail’s traditional retailer users are women-owned businesses, and over half of their retailers are unbanked. OmniRetail’s holisitic, tech-led services give small business owners more control over their stock, their finances, and their ability to earn a decent living that supports their households.

Recent achievements and future ambitions

Over 60,000 people are using OmniRetail’s services so far, enabling small- and medium-sized enterprises to access the credit necessary to grow their business. While OmniRetail’s platform relies on technology and data analytics to improve access to financing, inventory management and decision making, the company also takes an extremely hands-on approach to training retailers in the field. Their efforts are showing impressive results: OmniRetail recently topped the Financial Times ranking of Africa’s fastest growing companies.
